Ed Bronstein began painting in 1989 after practicing architecture in Philadelphia since 1968. For most of that time he was principal of his own firm. Having watched - and been intrigued by - his daughter's art education, he returned to courses at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts to begin "formal" art training, and subsequently decided to pursue painting as a profession. He began to show his work first in Philadelphia and then at galleries in Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey, in the mid 1990's. Subject matter varies from landscapes - both rural and urban - and stillife, to scenes of industrial relics and vehicles, studio setups of "objects of affection", and portraiture. Much of his work (pastels and oil) has been painted on site ("en plein air"), or are studio studies completed during a single session. |
